Vintage Russian Flag

The Old Russian flag is made of three different horizontal bands, white at the top, blue in the middle, and red on the bottom. This flag is actually currently the Russian flag today, but it is said to have first been used by merchant and war ships even before Russia adopted it as a flag. It became the official Russian flag in  1896, and it is said that it is based on the Dutch tricolor flag.  The flag continued to be used even after the Tsar was dethroned and during that Russian Provisional governing.  It was not changed until the Bolshevik government took over, when it was replaced with the red flag and the communist symbol in the middle.  When the Soviet Union collapsed this old flag was reinstated as the Russian national Flag.
