The American flag comes in many styles and makers don’t just change it because they feel like it. The American flag was changed 26 times since the the 13 state union created it. After adding 15 stars it remained unchanged for a number of years but was again changed to add 48 stars and then remained the same for 47 years, the longest time without being modified.

During the American revolution there was no official American flag, but George Washington carried the Grand Union Flag, which has historically been called the nations first flag.

The exact origins of the flag are unknown. We might have decided to add stripes to the british red ensign flag, or we might have been inspired by the British East India Company. Whatever it’s origins, we have one of the most beautiful and original flags in the world and we should be proud to make it a part of our lives.
